Privilege: The Challenge for White Social Workers and Counselors

 It is a social worker’s role to become ‘woke’ to cultural differences and systems of racial oppression in order to have essential conversations with coworkers and clients. This webinar will provide a culturally competent understanding of the language, awareness, and skills needed to have these interactions by: 

1. Defining and exploring culture, unconscious bias, microaggressions, racism, privilege, marginalization, color blindness and intersectionality  
2. Determining ways that cultural differences impact professional relationships  
3. Providing social workers with a culturally relevant toolbox of skills to work toward micro and macro level change 

This free 3-hour CE webinar has been uniquely designed for professionals working in the perinatal healthcare field, social workers, and child welfare professionals. Throughout the training, participants will have an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation with colleagues in the field, and be introduced to Spence-Chapin and the free services we offer to women and couples who are considering adoption or making an adoption plan for their baby.  

The Office of Continuing Education at Rutgers School of Social Work is an ASWB national CE provider and will provide 3 Social & Cultural CE hours for social workers and professional counselors from New York, New Jersey, and Arizona.
