In 2017, we met as many couples do nowadays, through a dating app and, from our very first date, it’s been evident to both of us that we complement each other and bring out the best in each other. We both work hard to build stable careers that allow us to work on things we care about and have healthy lives outside of work. We have stability in our relationship, our finances, and our daily life. We live in Brooklyn and have an active but not overly-scheduled lifestyle. We enjoy spending time with family and friends and being active outside, but we also love staying home, being cozy, and making a meal together.
Family is the most important thing in our lives, and that includes our friends, who we consider family. We have been together for seven years, and in that time, we have combined our families and our friend groups to create a wonderful community that supports us in every way. They are almost as excited as we are to welcome a child into that community. We can’t wait to have inside family jokes, favorite family meals, favorite books we read at bedtime – all those daily things that create memories that will make us smile and laugh each time we recall them.

Mike took a career break in 2016 to backpack/budget travel in South America and Europe, visiting 11 countries! The trip created a love for exploring and learning about new places and different cultures that he will have for the rest of his life.
Nuestras vidas
Our lifestyle is balanced between downtime at home or going out to explore. We live in a safe community with lots of fun things to do. Our neighborhood is family friendly, and we have a large support network of extended friends nearby. Our apartment is within walking distance to a large park with several playgrounds.
In our free time, we gravitate to activities that are outdoors and have elements of both relaxation and adventure. This excitement to explore has been part of our 7 years together, as we have taken trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, and many of the National Parks in the United States. We carry that adventurous spirit into our lives closer to home, too. We love trying new restaurants and testing recipes at home, going for hikes or camping in upstate NY, cheering on our favorite sports teams, seeing live music, and picnics with friends in Prospect Park. We have done many really fun things together since we met, and we can’t wait to share that love of learning with our child.
Nuestra familia
We come from different extended families, but we have all made it work! Michael comes from a quiet, loving Filipino family in Los Angeles who loves to watch sports, cook large Filipino meals, and spend time together. Kristina comes from a boisterous Italian family living in Ontario, Canada, who loves to play board games with our nephews, and spend time being active outside. What unites our two extended families is our love for cooking and their full support and love for us… and how excited they are to welcome this child! We plan to travel yearly to visit both sides of the family and share our multi-racial family traditions, recipes, stories. We have a very strong network of friends, some with children and some without. We know we can count on all of them for their love and support of our child as much as our family.
