Tuve la suerte de ir a Sud\u00e1frica el pasado mes de octubre. Es un pa\u00eds que amo, en parte porque me ha ense\u00f1ado que siempre hay esperanza ante la adversidad implacable, y la gente vive esa convicci\u00f3n con orgullo por lo que ha superado y abraza con alegr\u00eda la vida en medio de los desaf\u00edos que nos puede traer de rodillas. Al final de este \u00faltimo viaje, me deleit\u00e9 con la espectacular vista del hermoso Cabo Occidental a lo largo de la pen\u00ednsula hasta el Cabo de Buena Esperanza. Y esta vez, a diferencia de otras ocasiones en las que simplemente asum\u00ed que regresar\u00eda, me pregunt\u00e9 si volver\u00eda otra vez. Lo hizo a\u00fan m\u00e1s precioso para m\u00ed mientras saboreaba cada detalle del paisaje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuando pens\u00e9 en compartir esta noche, pens\u00e9 en esa imagen de mi despegue de Ciudad del Cabo y en no dar las cosas por sentado. Y eso me lleva al d\u00eda de hoy. Obviamente estoy en un momento cr\u00edtico en mi vida. Por supuesto que todos estamos todo el tiempo sin saberlo, o sin prestarle mucha atenci\u00f3n. Pero s\u00e9 en mis huesos, literalmente, que la vida se vive d\u00eda a d\u00eda, de momento presente a momento presente. Eso es bueno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuando mi hijo me encontr\u00f3, despert\u00e9 a la gracia, al aprendizaje siguiendo su ejemplo, caminando sobre muchas c\u00e1scaras de huevo sin duda, pero respetando su manejo de sus diversas madres y familia extendida, observ\u00e1ndolo madurar en su matrimonio y en la crianza de sus hijos. , y me hice m\u00e1s paciente, poni\u00e9ndolo siempre primero, dejando que el tiempo nos guiara, una virtud que no me resulta f\u00e1cil. Con diecinueve a\u00f1os de relaci\u00f3n ahora y mi nuevo viaje de vida, las cosas se est\u00e1n profundizando. El amor es menos tentativo. Podemos despedirnos con un \u201cTe amo\u201d sin sentirnos inc\u00f3modos, y he visto a mi incre\u00edble hijo aparecer de tantas maneras en las que las palabras son opcionales.
