Hi! We are Sarah, Durk & Charlie. We are a fun and loving family in Northern New Jersey. Durk and Sarah have been together for almost 20 years and pride themselves on their open communication and sense of humor. We love going into the city to visit museums, parks and restaurants. Our home is filled with music and sweet pets, Teddy our four year-old dog and Niles our 14 year-old cat. Our family is mostly nearby and can’t wait to be a part of this journey.

Our Lives
Our routines are pretty typically suburban on the surface: school for Charlie during the week with art and music after school. Sarah’s work schedule as a doctor varies, but she is almost always home for dinner and bedtime. We love to read during our downtime. Weekends are spent spending time with friends and family by including them in activities such as art museums, food tours or hiking. During the summer, we love going to Lavallette, which is our favorite beach town in New Jersey. Charlie is an expert at crane games, and Durk loves to bodysurf. We also love traveling as a family and love to discover new places together.
Our Family
Sarah, Durk and Charlie are very close with Sarah’s sister, Rachel, who also lives in New Jersey. Their families travel and spend holidays together, and Charlie has wonderful cousins in Emma and Luke. Sarah’s dad, Larry, is also nearby and chomps at the bit for babysitting opportunities. Sarah was raised Jewish, but identifies more with the culture of Judaism than the religion. The whole family looks forward to spending the major Jewish holidays with Sarah’s family in Manhattan and Albany. Durk was raised Episcopalian and the family celebrates the major Christian holidays as well. Durk’s father lives in Chicago and his nephew lives nearby in Brooklyn. We consider our close friends to be members of our extended family and they are excited to be Aunties and Uncles to our expanding family as they are to Charlie.
Final Thoughts
We recognize the enormity of the decision you are making and feel honored to be considered suitable. We are a happy and loving family that will give everything to a new member and believe in openness with the adoptive family in whatever capacity nourishes all parties.
