Maxine and Austin met through mutual friends in college in 2017 and have been together since. They have many interests, which have led to their home being filled with crafts, games, musical instruments, and toys. Currently, their home consists of cats and birds, whom they love caring for. The couple has a small backyard chicken farm. They raise unusual chicken breeds as pets and often spend time working on and in the chicken coop, improving the setting, tending to the birds, and raising baby chicks in the spring. They also have a talkative, loving duck named Jolene. Austin and Maxine both have two siblings, with whom they are very close. Maxine’s siblings have small children, whom the couple loves spending time with. Adoption has always been Austin and Maxine’s first choice in methods of starting a family. As an adoptee herself, Maxine has always had a deep understanding that genetics are not required to make a family, and knows she would be an excellent mother to an adopted child, as her loving parents were to her.

About Maxine

Maxine is 30 years old and passionate about her career in web development and marketing. On the side, she is an artist and freelance graphic designer. She loves painting, crafting, and sewing, and displaying her paintings at local art shows and galleries. She loves spending time with her family and friends, playing video games with her husband, and traveling to new places.

Fun Fact: Maxine was adopted as a baby in a closed adoption in Wyoming in 1995, and met her biological family as an adult. She found out she has ten or more siblings, who are all very kind, fun, and accepting. She also loves contributing to good causes. She recently got accepted to donate art to a hospice charity, and loves volunteering at a local cat sanctuary and spending time with the cats, and has fostered kittens for them.

About Austin

Austin is 27, with two degrees, one in Game Design and the other in Virtual and Augmented Reality. He runs a local tech repair business. He is a family-oriented man, and his hobbies include writing, playing music, watching movies, and seeing friends.

Fun Fact: Austin is interested in a wide range of subjects, often getting invested in learning about a particular interest for lengthy periods. He shows a preference for history and geography. He is fond of writing fiction and working on different projects like game development and music making.

Maxine works from home online for a large tech company. Austin runs his own computer repair business, requiring occasional house calls to local clients. Together, they have a lot of animals that they enjoy caring for, including cats, chickens, and a duck. They live in a beautiful location in the valley, underneath a mountain with a pool in their backyard. They like to go out when they can, usually with friends. They know all of the best escape rooms, coffee places, and scenic spots in Arizona. They host game nights on Sundays with some of their close friends. The couple often travels together, visiting family or new places.

Maxine is very close with her parents, in-laws, step-siblings, and friends. Her parents have Jewish traditions, such as Hanukkah, where they exchange gifts and cook awesome meals.

Austin grew up with a small family of his parents and two younger sisters. He was raised in a Lutheran household, bringing about a tradition of visiting Chicago for Christmas to spend time with his family.

The couple has developed a circle of close friends. Some from their youth, others they met in their adulthood. These friends have a prominent role in the couple’s life and are often seen.

Maxine and Austin are very excited about the prospect of raising a child. Maxine and Austin have both always believed in parenting through adoption. Maxine, in particular, given her personal experience as an adoptee, understands the love that goes into the difficult decision of placing a child for adoption, and will always advocate for an environment that is comfortable for both a biological parent and adoptee.
