Mental health professionals are charged with the legal and ethical responsibility to maintain professional boundaries, but the obligation isn’t always so easy to discern. This webinar brings real-world context to ethical concerns often experienced by professionals in practice in maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. The workshop will provide a framework to contemplate ethical dilemmas and make informed decisions that insulate professionals from legal liability, while protecting clients from harm.

This free training hosted by Spence-Chapin in collaboration with Rutgers School of Social Work is designed with a particular focus on professionals working in the perinatal healthcare field, social workers, and child welfare professionals. Throughout the training, participants will also be introduced to Spence-Chapin and the services we offer to fully support a patient who is considering adoption or making an adoption plan for their baby. Participants will learn about the free services and support we provide to our clients, how we assist professionals working with this population, and when and how to make a referral to Spence-Chapin.

The Office of Continuing Education at Rutgers School of Social Work is a ASWB national CE provider and will provide 3 Ethics CE hours for Arizona, New York & New Jersey social workers and professional counselors. We are pleased to share that this training meets New York State’s new requirement for mental health professionals (effective April 2023), which mandates 3 CE hours of training on ethics/maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
