A free Continuing Education webinar featuring training by Monica Roldan, LCSW, Rutgers School of Social Work.

Trauma within the immigrant community is unique and can be misunderstood due to the language and/or cultural understanding of the presentation of symptoms. This interactive webinar will address the different types of trauma and their effects. Through case studies, we will go beyond the basic understanding of trauma as experienced by immigrants and explore the long-term neurological, emotional, and behavioral effects. Providers will learn effective clinical tools to promote culturally appropriate grounding exercises and other clinical tools.

This free webinar is designed with a specific focus on professionals working in the perinatal healthcare field, social workers, and child welfare professionals. Throughout the free training, participants will be introduced to Spence-Chapin and the free services we offer to women and couples who are considering adoption or making an adoption plan for their baby. Attendees will deepen their understanding of the unique challenges faced by women within the immigrant community who are considering or touched by adoption.

The Office of Continuing Education at Rutgers School of Social Work is an ASWB national CE provider and will provide 2 Clinical and 1 Social & Cultural Competence CE hours for social workers and professional counselors.
