Understanding Adoption for Healthcare Professionals – A guide to supporting your patients

This presentation will be at Albany Medical Center and AMC will provide 1 CE for Licensed Social Workers. The training will cover everything hospital staff need to know when a birthing parent is considering placing a child for adoption. Both a special needs and a healthy infant adoption case will be discussed (including a case at Albany Medical Center) to give real life examples of the various stages of adoption planning and how to support the birth parent, the child, and the adoptive family throughout their process. We will also share birth parent video testimonials to help illustrate the uniquely challenging, emotionally-complex and forward-thinking decision they are making.
