This free workshop hosted by Spence-Chapin in collaboration with Rutgers School of Social Work will explore the healthcare system’s role in responding to violence against women and children and provide participants with an understanding of the impact of violence and abuse on women’s and children’s health. The workshop will also focus on how to appropriately screen patients for abuse, document information, and provide resources and referrals. Special attention will be given to understanding obstacles and barriers encountered by individuals in diverse populations when receiving medical care.
This training is designed with a particular focus on professionals working in the perinatal healthcare field, social workers, and child welfare professionals. Throughout the workshop, participants will be introduced to Spence-Chapin and the free services we offer to fully support a client who is considering adoption or making an adoption plan for their baby, and how we assist professionals working with this population.
The Office of Continuing Education at Rutgers School of Social Work is a ASWB national CE provider and will provide 3 Social & Cultural Competence credits for Arizona, New York & New Jersey social workers and professional counselors.
