We live in Brooklyn and have a four-year-old dog named Peanut. We have a large extended family on the East Coast and in California. We’ve chosen adoption as our path to parenthood because we believe families are created through love and commitment. Our families are incredibly excited about our adoption journey and can’t wait to welcome a new member. Becoming parents has been a lifelong dream for both of us, and we believe in parenting with patience, encouragement, and respect for a child’s unique personality. Our home is ready for a child’s laughter, questions, and energy. We have the stability, resources, and support system to provide a nurturing environment for your child.

Fun facts:
Charlie loves learning new things, whether that is through completing crosswords, attending talks and lectures, or reading books on a variety of topics. He is a lifelong learner and is always excited to learn something new.
Charlie also enjoys staying active. His preferred activities include yoga, strength training, and playing pickleball.
Both Charlie and Charlton love to travel abroad and learn different languages. Charlton grew up in a household that spoke both English and Indonesian, and he has studied Latin, Chinese, Spanish, and German. Charlie grew up in a household that spoke English and has studied Spanish, Korean, and most recently Indonesian.

Fun facts:
Charlton loves to stay active. He has completed an Ironman triathlon, loves to go on long bike rides, and is currently training with Charlie for a relay race swim across Lake Tahoe.
Charlton loves building community. He’s served as a camp counselor, a resident assistant in college, and loves building and forging deep meaningful relationships with those around him, like hosting a monthly gathering of friends and family in their home.
Our Lives
During the work week, we both work from home from our Brooklyn apartment. Our neighborhood has tree-lined streets, diverse families, and excellent schools. We take daily walks with Peanut through our local park where community events regularly take place.
On weekends, we spend time with friends and family, including several who have recently become parents, playing board games or pickleball or hosting friends in our backyard.
During holidays, we either host family or gather in the Los Angeles or Philadelphia area, like our annual Thanksgiving dinner, for example. Our extended family is all excited to welcome a new member to the family.
Your child will experience diverse perspectives through learning languages like Spanish and Indonesian, and through our friends from various cultural backgrounds. Our building’s playroom provides built-in social connections with children of all ages.
As a two-dad family, we ensure our child will have meaningful relationships with people of all genders through Charlie and Charlton’s mothers, sisters, and close friends. We believe children benefit from seeing diverse family structures.
We prioritize education that nurtures both academic skills and emotional intelligence, and our home is in an excellent school district where we’ll support our child’s unique learning journey.
Our Family
Our dog Peanut is a lab/beagle-mix and is very affectionate. He loves meeting babies and small children, and is very patient and calm around them. Two of our closest friends in New York City have a one-year-old child named Isaac. Isaac and Peanut have become close friends and our child will spend lots of time with both Isaac and Peanut.
Charlton’s mother, father, and sister live in the Los Angeles, CA area. Charlie’s mother, sister, and aunt live in the Philadelphia, PA area. Charlie’s father lives in San Antonio, TX and his other sister lives in Seattle, WA. We have family all over the country, and we enjoy both hosting them in Brooklyn as well as visiting them. We have an in-law unit at our home so they can stay comfortably with us for extended periods of time.
We often travel to California to celebrate Thanksgiving at Charlton’s great aunt’s place. We often travel to the Philadelphia, PA area to celebrate Christmas with Charlie’s mother, sister, aunt, and extended family. In addition to visiting family in the US, Charlton also has a large extended family who live in Indonesia. We typically visit them once a year or once every two years. Family is incredibly important to us and we prioritize keeping close relationships with our immediate and extended family.
