Jamie and Walt have been together for 13 years. Both former Florida boys, they met and fell in love in New York City despite cheering for rival college football teams. They have spent the first chapter of their lives together traveling the world, building a strong community of friends in the city, spending time with their families (biological and chosen) and running an education nonprofit together in their spare time. Both have worked with students most of their lives, and always knew they would become parents. The timing is right, as both have settled into their careers and have the means and bandwidth to give their child 110%. They are excited to meet their future rugrat, and are ready for the child’s interests and hobbies to become their interests and hobbies, and they plan to always be their kid’s number one fan.

Fun Facts
Both Walt and Jamie are fans of adventures, and have traveled to 50+ countries together since they started dating. Every Thanksgiving, when most of the country is flying domestic, they take advantage of the cheap international airfare and celebrate with foreigners in a new destination. Their careers have created some random amazing opportunities; from shooting a SuperBowl commercial and then attending the big game to being a guest on Top Chef to judge restaurant wars – they have made the most of the opportunities that were put in front of them. Most recently, they were featured in the New York Times with a small piece highlighting their love story in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision on marriage equality.
Our Lives
Our lives are a perfect combination of structured routines and spontaneous adventures. We are both ambitious, but value our time alone together as well. It’s a house full of laughter and love, and nothing makes us happier than a lazy Friday night walking around Homegoods before grocery shopping and cooking dinner together. Our home will be full of books, playtime, giggles, and animals. We value curiosity, empathy, and want to foster our child’s confidence in themselves.
Our Family
Both of our families, both biological and chosen, have been an incredible support system for us throughout our relationship. Both of our families raised us in a loving home that valued honesty and education, and there were lots of local field trips to museums and libraries and beach days. July 4th traditions, with BBQ’s and firework displays and family camping trips are just a few of the things passed down from our Dad’s that we want to incorporate into our child’s life. We want to continue our Thanksgiving tradition as well, traveling with our child to a new destination at least once a year so they have the opportunity to experience the world.
Final Thoughts
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to learn more about us. We are fully committed to providing your child with a life full of love, laughter and adventure. With adoption playing such a big role in both our lives, we wanted you to know that your consideration means the world to us.
