Intro:
We grew up together in a small town in Massachusetts. We were always warm to each other back then (Erika rolled with the art crowd and Brian was more of a sports person) and we reconnected after college. Our first date was a live comedy show that Brian’s sister was performing at. Since then, we’ve driven across the country twice (once to move to CA, the other to move back home to the East Coast), rescued two dogs, and bought and renovated a 100-year-old home.
We have always wanted to adopt because many of the people who ‘raised us’ were outside of our blood-related family world. Adopting is the ideal way to grow the family for us, not the back up option after other ways to conceive failed (no judgement to others who have a different journey here). It’s important to us that whoever our future kid grows into, they know that they were our first choice.
About Erika:

Hobbies: Reading books with Dragons and Wyverns, Learning to cook something new (especially vegan!), cuddling with our dogs, getting (meaningful) tattoos, going to Yoga and Crossfit, but not into gym cults, listening to tech podcasts, being 100% Italian, a good puzzle, seeing live comedy with Brian (our favorite: Ben Schwartz & Friends)

Hobbies: Home improvement projects, drinking coffee on a weekend morning, the woods, learning to cultivate Bonsai trees, chess club in town, calling my sister to talk comedy and trade jokes, pick-up basketball, eating anything Erika makes, writing jokes/making people laugh
Our Lives:
Our life together is a mix of being home-bodies, and seeking adventure.
On most days, we spend time cooking, cleaning, doing yard work, drinking our favorite coffee, supporting the local shops in our town, or spending a peaceful night cuddled up in front of a fire watching a movie.
Times where our curious or adventurous spirit comes out, we like to visit museums, renovate our home (Brian is especially handy), go to sketch comedy shows, and plan trips (either internationally, or something more local).
We really value education and consider ourselves life-long learners. Currently, we’re both taking Italian language classes with the goal of becoming fluent and spending time with Erika’s extended family in Italy.
Our Family:
We have a big, colorful, and rambunctious family. We have all family members within NY, MA, or PA and are lucky to see them often. Erika is from a huge 100% Italian immigrant family that is very close-knit. Brian’s family, although smaller, is also very close. When we’re together, we love to eat! Erika’s family does an annual Gnocchi & Tomato Sauce making event, and everyone walks away with enough jarred tomato sauce to last the year.
We’re still not sure how we got so fortunate, but we’ve found ourselves with the most wonderful, caring, creative, fun, and loving community of friends. Our friends are all so excited for us to become parents, in part because they are also in a similar stage of family building themselves. They swear we will be the ‘coolest parents,’ mostly based on our love of art, music, and being silly
