Troy & Cynthia

Hello! We are Troy and Cynthia, and we’re excited to share a bit about ourselves. We live in a vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, where we’re just a stone’s throw away from some of our favorite spots, like the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. We love exploring new restaurants, enjoying the arts, traveling, taking long walks, and spending quality time with our family and friends. During relaxing weekends at home, you’ll often find us catching up on the latest movies and shows streaming online. Ultimately, our desire to adopt often stems from a deep commitment to family and a belief in the importance of providing support, love, and stability to a child’s life.

Fun Fact:

We met on a Vacation Cruise in the Caribbean; Troy was living in Miami and on a vacation with his family and Cynthia lived in NYC and was on a bachelorette trip with friends and the bride-to-be. After an unforgettable connection, we exchanged numbers and kept in touch. We saw each other weeks later when Cynthia visited family in South Florida. From then on, we visited one another regularly and eventually started a long-distance relationship. A year later, Troy made the leap from sunny Miami to bustling NYC to be with Cynthia, and we’ve been building our life together ever since. We’re looking forward to the next chapter of our adventure, and we’re excited about the possibility of growing our family through adoption.

Our Lives:

As a family, our favorite activities revolve around exploring different cuisines, cultural arts, and traveling, especially when we can combine all three! Each year, we travel to visit family in Florida and the Carolinas. In addition to taking trips to visit family, we aim to take two vacations a year to rejuvenate, stay grounded, and centered, and to organically unwind from the fast-paced hustle and bustle of New York. These vacations provide us with the opportunity to explore and learn about various cultures while reflecting on our blessings and putting our family values and life goals into perspective. Along with our regular family trips, we’ve had the chance to explore some amazing places in recent years – from attending a friend’s wedding in the Dominican Republic, to relaxing in Tulum, Italy, Portugal, and Brazil. We also had the joy of celebrating Christmas and New Year’s with Cynthia’s family in Colombia, where we got to meet four generations of relatives, from great-aunts and uncles to baby cousins!

Our Family:

We nurture warm, supportive relationships with both our family and friends. Our parents (and siblings’ families) live outside NYC, so we attempt to visit multiple times a year. These trips provide an opportunity to reconnect with extended family – aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. We often organize family dinners, cookouts, and game nights as a fun way to catch up and enjoy quality time together, especially since our stays are usually brief. We also treasure the time we spend with our close friends. Whether it’s brunch, dinner dates, or cozy get-togethers at each other’s homes, these moments are always a highlight. One of our favorite traditions is our annual trip to the Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island, where we join a couple, we have been friends with for over twenty years. We also enjoy family outings and creating memories during holidays like “Friendsgiving”. Many of our friends have kids, ranging from 1 to 12 years old, and we love engaging in curious conversations, playing games, and simply being part of their world. It fills us with joy to be called Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Troy by these little ones—it’s a true gift to be part of their lives!

Final Thoughts:

We recognize that this is an incredibly difficult decision, and while we may not fully comprehend all the emotions you’re experiencing, please know how profoundly grateful we are for the opportunity to be considered as potential parents for your child. We are deeply committed to providing a loving, nurturing, and supportive home—one that will always honor, respect, and celebrate your child’s unique story and the incredible journey that has brought them to us.
